Web design for Newark and Essex County

Newark’s freight and logistics firms, the law offices near the courthouses and the Ironbound’s restaurants all need different websites. We design them, and sites for the Essex County towns around the city.

Built around the port and the airport

Drive east past the Ironbound toward Port Newark and the airport and the businesses change: freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, trucking outfits and the repair shops that keep the trucks running. Very few of them get customers who wander in. Their buyers are logistics managers in other states, comparing three or four vendors in browser tabs before anyone picks up a phone.

Those buyers want facts, quickly. Which terminals do you serve, and what do you handle (refrigerated loads, hazmat, oversized freight)? Which licenses and certifications do you hold? Who answers on a Saturday? A logistics site that answers those questions before anyone scrolls beats a slicker one that leads with a generic shot of a container ship. Most of these companies don’t need a new brand at all. They need a website redesign that puts the dull, important information where a buyer can find it.

Courthouse lawyers and downtown offices

A lot of New Jersey’s legal work happens in Newark, with the federal district court and the Essex County courts downtown and both Rutgers Law and Seton Hall Law in the city. Small firms here compete with large Manhattan practices for the same searches. A law firm site doesn’t need to look expensive; it needs practice pages that read like a lawyer wrote them and attorney bios that weren’t pasted from LinkedIn. Our guide to law firm websites gets into the details.

Two or three languages, done properly

The Ironbound has been Newark’s Portuguese neighborhood for generations, and Brazilian and Latin American families have long been part of it too. Restaurants on Ferry Street, bakeries, travel agents and accountants there often serve customers who’d rather read in Portuguese or Spanish.

A translation widget is the lazy answer, and readers can tell. Separate language versions, each at its own address with proper language tags, let Google show the Portuguese page to someone searching in Portuguese. You (or a translator you trust) approve the copy, and we set the site up so your staff can keep every version current. There’s more on menus and reservations in our restaurant guide.

Essex County and the rest of North Jersey

Newark customers rarely stay inside city limits. East Orange, Bloomfield, Montclair, West Orange and Maplewood each have their own downtowns and their own search habits, and Bergen and Middlesex counties are a short drive up or down the Turnpike. Then there’s Manhattan, a PATH or NJ Transit ride away, which is both your biggest market and your loudest competition.

The temptation is to call yourself a “New York area” business and hope for the best. It rarely works: you end up ranking nowhere in particular. Lead with Newark and the towns you really serve, and say plainly how close you are to Newark Penn Station.

We work remotely, without a Newark office, and keep calls in Eastern Time; your partners can review each design from a shared link on the PATH train or in a courthouse hallway.

A Newark question

Our customers are other businesses. Do we still need local SEO?

Less than a restaurant does, but more than most freight companies assume. When a shipper in Ohio looks for a customs broker at Port Newark, what turns up depends on whether your site says so in plain words. We’d start with technical SEO so the pages load fast and Google can read them, then write service pages around the terms buyers actually type.
